Given the concept by Richard Hall Designs to create a Butler's Pantry that would convey dignity, warmth and function in an unusually long central hallway was nearly a year long endeavor. From 1,000 board feet of solid cherry, came this piece that spans a space 30' long x 10 1/2' wide x 12' high, and houses 3 separate lighting systems, custom designed crown molding, hand-turned brackets, tarnish-resistant felt-lined drawers, granite counter and backsplash, hand-made faucet, book-matched cathedral-figured cherry veneers on all drawers and doors, hidden locks on drawer bays, and a five part varnish finish.
This project demanded the talents of each person at Eidolon Designs, and the sense of accomplishment upon completion was shared.

This kitchen concept was generated by Richard Hall Designs and given to us to customize with the owner.
Every door, drawer, pullout and appliance was specifically placed for its utmost functionality.

This process is one we take very seriously and enjoy: working through the possibilities and decisions, hand-in-hand with the client, to achieve an end product that will be lasting and enjoyed for many years to come.

Special to this kitchen are:

-custom door and drawer moldings (designed specifically for this client)

-unusually tall 54" upper doors, featuring leaded Restoration glass fabricated by Mark Gill of Gill Studio, Raleigh, NC

-two concave curved upper doors flanking the wide sink windows

-tambour door appliance garage

-arched pass-through

Made of maple hardwoods and veneers, this kitchen was installed unfinished, and then beautifully finished on site by CAN Decorative Painting and Design in Chapel Hill, NC.

Flanking either side of a main passageway, this mahogany bar is truly integral to the space in which it is nestled. Producing crown moldings in mahogany to match the existing painted household crown molding throughout the house further accentuates this effect.

Interior lighting, restoration glass, tall upper doors with custom molding and leaded glass panels and custom corbels, all give this bar an understated but elegant stance in this gracious hallway.

This Butler's Pantry, which bridges the kitchen and dining room has the feeling of formality in a very unassuming way, and was designed to be consistent with the bar on the other side of the dining room and kitchen.

The Butler's Pantry is complete with furniture feet that add a modestly formal feel. Inside one upper cabinet, we designed plate racks to safely hold heirloom china that are fully integrated with the cabinet.

This gracious 3'6 x 7'0 front entrance and storm door is made of mahogany solids and veneers. This leaded restoration glass transom is by Mark Gill of Gill Studios in Raleigh, NC. Delivered as a unit, this door is complete with brick mold, jams, weather seals, interlocking bronze threshold, and finish.

The custom drop panel moldings duplicate the moldings on the other interior cabinets by Eidolon Designs in this home. The curved brick moldings also in mahogany duplicate the exterior of the whole house architecture as defined by Richard Hall Designs, Raleigh, NC.

The exterior finish is a UV blocking door spar varnish over the stained mahogany. Having a pre-fitted and finished door unit allows for all edges to be finish coated in a controlled environment for maximum protection.

Working with great designers makes our job fun, and, when given a great concept, we love to run with it. This bathroom envisioned by Martha Dunnagan of Dunnagan Designs, Raleigh, NC, features stained spruce, olive burl, and teak combined to make a solid and coherent thematic presentation.

State-of-the-art technology finds a beautiful home in this wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling home theater. Diamond pattern cherry veneer layout with black grill cloth speaker frames (which are easily removable) belie the complex technology beneath. All wire routing, interior structure for speakers and ventilation systems are integrated with the design, making the audio company’s job easy. Surround sound could not look better.

Integration at its best. The designer on-site specified the aesthetics, introducing cherry vanities, dressing tables, mirrors, shelving, wall banding and lighting. Our engineering ensured that fabrication and installation challenges were soon a distant memory. All the client experiences is simplicity and ease.

The Eidolon team of Ann Cowperthwaite and Mike Parker also had the pleasure of designing and manufacturing the fixtures for their new home. These included the entire kitchen as well as the bathroom vanities.

Featuring old, air-dried walnut cabinets, a huge central island and stainless steel and glass wall racks and hooks for storage, the kitchen is the center of activity in the home.

Adding functionality to the design, the island includes six large drawers on the working side, a small side sink and butcher block top, perfect for food preparation. A china and glass cabinet will also be added in the near future.

This double vanity with a central dividing double mirror carries the same beveled theme used throughout all the cabinetry in the home. A simple combination of solid white oak and white oak veneers this piece was structured for stone to support the concrete top, formed and installed by Ron White of Raleigh, NC.

Another design specified by Design Lines, LTD of Raleigh, NC. The simplicity is sophisticated and understated. Made of cherry veneers, focusing on the symmetry of horizontal and vertical grain pattern-each door has a central focus of ebony dyed cherry. As with all of our work, this piece is structured for stone, as it carries a lot of weight by being wall-hung and supporting a granite top. There is an adjustable shelf behind each door for china storage.

Eidolon Designs delivers a complete kitchen package - from custom cabinets fabricated, painted and installed to finishing touches like the stainless steel, granite, and hard maple chopping block.

Working with a great architect and designer, we coordinated this complete kitchen package design with the butlers pantry, two home offices, master bath vanities and an entertainment / dresser master bedroom unit for true hand-in-glove completion.

Eidolon Designs transformed an existing granite planter bed by designing and fabricating a mahogany top that appears to simply "cap" the space. The surprise is that inset, on the far right side, we attached a plasma screen to an Auton lift for raising and lowering the screen by a finger-touch command.

A solid cherry "wildwood" kitchen, including an island, butler's pantry, and washroom was created to fit comfortably into a customized, commercially up-fitted home kitchen designed by Carter Skinner. Integrating pull-outs, compacters, warming drawers, steam pots, ovens, and appliance panels was a challenge Eidolon Designs devoted 15 months to completing, without receiving a "punch list" from the contractor!

A china cabinet that truly looks like it was meant to be exactly where it is.
